Board Changes

Aegis Group plc announced today that Lord Colin Sharman (56) is to join the board as non-executive Deputy Chairman with effect from 1 September.

Lord Sharman is Chairman of KPMG Worldwide, which he joined in 1966. He has extensive experience in Europe having worked in Germany, the Netherlands, and the Benelux and Scandinavian regions. Lord Sharman was elected UK Senior Partner in 1994, when he joined both the International Executive Committee and the European Board of KPMG. He is also a non-executive Director of AEA Technology.

Frank Law, having decided to retire on 1 January 2000, will pass the Chairmanship of Aegis to Lord Sharman on that date. Mr Law joined the Aegis board in 1987 and became Chairman in 1992. He was previously Chairman of Siemens plc.

Commenting on the respective appointment and retirement, Crispin Davis, Chief Executive of Aegis said:

"Aegis, and I personally, are immensely grateful to Frank Law for his guidance and advice, particularly as Chairman during the re-organisation of Aegis in the early '90s. He took over the posittion at a difficult time for the Group and has over the last eight years overseen the successful transformation of the Company into what is now a significant international media Group.

"Colin Sharman brings a wealth of experience to Aegis and we will particularly value his background in the service sector and his international experience. We look forward to him joining the board and, after gaining suitable working knowledge of the Group, becoming Chairman."
