Board Changes

As announced in early July, Aegis Group plc confirms the retirement, effective from 31 December 1999, of the Chairman Frank Law. Since joining the board in 1987 and being appointed chairman in 1992, Frank Law (83) has overseen the company's rise in fortune from a market capitalisation of £113.5 million to £2.2 billion.Sir Peter Thompson and Kai Hiemstra are also retiring from the board on 31 December 1999. Sir Peter Thompson (74) joined the board in 1993 and Kai Hiemstra in 1994. Mr Hiemstra continues as chairman of the Carat Group of companies in Germany.
Lord Sharman takes over as Chairman of Aegis Group plc on 1 January 2000 and said:
"Frank Law, Sir Peter and Kai Hiemstra have made outstanding contributions to the company. They have supervised a period of robust growth that has seen rising shareholder confidence in the company. The other directors and I will miss their wise council. We all wish them well in their retirement."
Further non-executive directors are expected to be appointed shortly.
