Aegis Group plc - Board Appointment
Aegis Group plc ("Aegis") is pleased to announce that Sir David Hannay has been appointed as a non-executive director of the Company with immediate effect.
Sir David (64) was, until his retirement in 1995, a member of the Diplomatic Service, serving in a number of places around the world before finally holding the positions of Britain's Ambassador to the European Union (1985-1990), and Britain's Ambassador to the United Nations (1990 -1995).
He is a non-executive director of Chime Communications plc, a member of the Council of Birmingham University and a member of the Council of Britain in Europe.
Commenting on the appointment, Lord Sharman the Chairman of Aegis said:
"I'm delighted that Sir David, a man with vast international experience, will be joining our Board. In particular, his knowledge of the EU and UN will be especially valuable as we further develop Aegis internationally."
As announced on 20 December 1999, further non-executive directors are expected to be appointed shortly.
