Aegis Launches New Global Market Research Brand

Aegis Group plc, the world’s largest independent media buying and market research company, has announced the new brand name under which all of the Group’s market research activities will be managed and marketed. As of today, the businesses that comprise the Aegis Research network will become known as Synovate.

Aegis’ entry into the market research sector commenced in 1999 when the Group acquired Market Facts in the US. Following a number of further acquisitions, the Group’s market research activities have now been developed into an international research network with offices in 43 countries and 65 cities. Cementing this federation of businesses under a single and distinctive brand will reflect the consistency of process used throughout Aegis’ market research activities – an increasing requirement of international clients when consolidating this activity with major research groups.

With revenues in 2001 of £185 million, equating to 35% of Aegis Group revenues, Synovate now ranks in the top 10 of the world’s largest custom market research groups. The business has over 2,500 employees and is headed by Adrian Chedore, an Aegis board director.

Doug Flynn, chief executive of Aegis, commented: “Aegis has developed its market research business rapidly in the last three years. In this short space of time, we have created an exciting new research network developed specifically to service the growing demands of large international marketers. The launch of the single brand reflects the fact that the business has come of age and now operates as a cohesive international network.
