Nick Waters to join Aegis Media as CEO of Asia-Pacific
22 September 2009
Patrick Ståhle to retire after a 20 year international career in marketing
Aegis Media, the world’s leading independent media communications network, today announces the appointment of Nick Waters as CEO, Aegis Media Asia-Pacific.
Currently CEO, EMEA for Mindshare, Nick, 41, brings almost 20 years’ international media experience to Aegis Media, and has considerable experience of the markets of Asia-Pacific. He has previously served as Mindshare’s CEO, Asia-Pacific. Nick began his career in the advertising industry in 1992 in the media department of Ogilvy & Mather and went on to run a number of major client accounts, in addition to his regional management roles.
Nick is to take over from Patrick Ståhle, 54, currently CEO of Aegis Media Asia-Pacific, who is to retire from the industry to pursue a non-executive career. Patrick was appointed CEO of Aegis Media Asia-Pacific in 2006. Since then, he has almost doubled regional revenue and increased operating profit more than three-fold. Patrick first joined the group in 1995, and was previously CEO of Aegis Media Sweden and of Aegis Media Nordics. Both Patrick’s departure and Nick’s arrival will take effect at the same time in the second quarter in 2010.
Commenting on the changes, Jerry Buhlmann, CEO of Aegis Media, said:
“We are sad to say goodbye to Patrick, who has served Aegis Media with distinction in a number of senior roles. His contribution to our business in Asia-Pacific in the last few years has been exceptional, and he leaves a very strong platform for Nick and the senior management team to build on.
“Patrick will leave large shoes to fill, but we could ask for no better successor to Patrick than Nick. Nick is steeped in our industry and in the region. He has proven experience in winning and managing complex regional business. Under his direction, I am very confident that Aegis Media will continue to grow, delivering on some significant ambitions in a key growth region.
Patrick Ståhle said:
“I have enjoyed all my time at Aegis Media, and will be sorry to part company after all these years. My three years in Asia-Pacific have been particularly rewarding. I am proud of what we have achieved: reinforcing our leadership position in digital, and winning many new clients, including
major international brands such as Fox, Beiersdorf and Nokia. I wish the very best of future success to Nick, to our clients, and to all my colleagues at Aegis Media.”
